- The official Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 account on X posted a dialogue from the game that says, “Blame the French!”
- Warhorse poked fun at Expedition 33 as it swept every category Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was in.
- But, it was all in good fun as Warhorse community manager later posted a picture with Sandfall Developers.
Many fans believed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 would win Game of the Year when it launched in February. The role-playing title received universal acclaim from critics and fans alike and went on to sell over 4 million copies in 9 months.
However, despite all the hype and praise, the Warhorse RPG lost every award it was nominated for to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at The Game Awards, and the game’s developers are poking fun at Sandfall after this humbling defeat.
Why it matters: It’s unfortunate that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 didn’t receive an award despite its brilliance, but seeing developers take it in good humor is nice to see.

On their official X account, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 resorted to memes and posted a dialogue option from the RPG that said, “Blame the French!” to make fun of its competitor, Expedition 33.
The game’s account posted memes throughout the ceremony as Sanfall’s title won a historic amount of awards, including Best RPG, Game of the Year, and Best Narrative Title, by beating out Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Warhorse community manager Sir Tobi also resorted to humor after losing The Game Awards, posting with a trophy and saying that his RPG was officially robbed.
But it was all in good fun, however, as the community manager posted a picture with some Sandfall Interactive developers to celebrate the monumental achievement of Expedition 33.

Despite all the memes, many fans do believe that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 should have won the award for Best RPG, as it was a better role-playing title than Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Whatever the case, Warhorse doesn’t need the plaudits of The Game Awards because its RPG has already left an impact on the gaming community, as the title stayed in the Steam top 5 best-sellers for 20 weeks after launch, and also took home the European Game of the Year award.
