Major Mafia Reveal/ Announcement Expected Soon!

Story Highlight
  • Mafia: The Old Country developers have teased something big for the coming weeks.
  • With GDC 2025 happening soon, gameplay footage could be revealed at the event.
  • Following such big words and a launch alongside GTA 6, the creators are confident with Mafia: The Old Country.

With 2K Games finally reviving the Mafia series through definitive editions of the first three games following Mafia 3’s subpar launch, they’ve now decided to wipe the slate clean before proceeding to future entries.

Mafia: The Old Country will be the fourth entry in the franchise and by far different from its predecessors. Being a reboot, 2K Games has changed much with the game, and the developers have now teased something big regarding a future announcement.

Why It Matters: Due to a positive reception for the first game’s remake, Mafia: The Old Country has big shoes to fill. This announcement suggests that the developers are quite confident in their work.

The announcement came from a social media post by 2Kczech, who said to keep tuned for a potential future announcement. If anything, we can expect a gameplay reveal sometime soon, especially as the game draws closer to its launch.

With GDC 2025 just around the corner, Hangar 13 could also have something in store for the fans at this event. Perhaps the team will highlight a bit of what makes the new Mafia’s open world different and interesting compared to the series’ past titles.

Judging by the wording, the team must be confident in this release since Mafia: The Old Country is expected to launch around the same time frame as GTA 6, arguably the biggest title in gaming history.

Set during the early 1900s, Mafia: The Old Country will explore the origin of the Salieri crime family. Moreover, the title is based on a rural setting, which is completely different from its predecessors.

Developer Hangar 13 has also ditched its in-house Fusion Engine for the game in favor of Unreal Engine 5. Additionally, the game will offer a much more linear experience rather than an open-world setting.
