Crimson Desert is an all-new single-player adventure from the team behind Black Desert Online. Borrowing from exemplary open-world titles like The Witcher 3 and Assassin’s Creed, this RPG aims to serve as a spiritual successor to Black Desert Online.

Developer Pearl Abyss recently shared various new details about the RPG with its investors. In addition to discussing an exclusivity offer, the team has also confirmed that Crimson Desert aims to offer at least 50 hours of gameplay.

Why it matters: Fans typically hope to spend hours upon hours in open-world releases, giving them just one more reason to anticipate Pearl Abyss’ upcoming title.

Crimson Desert
The Game Will Introduce Multiplayer After Release

According to a translation of the investor briefing, Pearl Abyss estimates an experience lasting 50-80 hours.

This is largely in line with the length of other open-world RPGs, though Pearl Abyss plans to take the series to the live-service genre after its release. The studio also confirmed that the game will officially launch next year.

Fans will explore the many regions of Pywel during this time as they forge unique adventures. The title also boasts a unique plot about supremacy and control, putting players at the center of a power struggle that can change their fates.

Crimson Desert Was Originally A Prequel To Black Desert Online

Following the release, Crimson Desert will receive a separate multiplayer mode similar to the very lucrative GTA Online.

This will tie into the studio’s live-service post-launch plans, though it has assured investors that the single-player experience will have its own definitive ending from day one.

However, Pearl Abyss is currently focused on the single-player experience. After multiple delays in the past, the game is finally nearing completion and is expected to arrive next year.
