Studios Are Moving Away From Sweet Baby Inc After Recent Controversies!

Story Highlight
  • The developer behind the worst-rated game of 2023 has announced that it won’t work with Sweet Baby Inc. anymore.
  • Daedalic Entertainment states that this is because of the recent controversies around the group.
  • Fans have showered the publisher’s latest release with negative reviews due to Sweet Baby Inc’s involvement.

Many might remember the legendary Lord of the Rings: Gollum from last year. As the undisputed worst release of 2023, it ended Daedalic Entertainment’s development career and positioned it as a publisher.

In early 2022, the publisher worked with Sweet Baby Inc for an indie game titled Capes. Fans were not fond of this company’s involvement and showered the game with negative reviews after this discovery.

In the aftermath of these events, Daedalic Entertainment confirmed it won’t work with Sweet Baby Inc. anymore.

Why it matters: Fans are not fond of forced inclusivity in gaming, and this DEI group has earned a negative reputation for itself.

Penta, the Community Strategist for Daedalic Entertainment, has recently revealed that the company won’t work with Sweet Baby Inc. anymore. He highlighted that Capes initially received a positive reception.

However, shortly after, the reviews were changed. Now, the reviews aren’t nearly as positive, and fans are criticizing the voice acting. It seems like Sweet Baby Inc. was behind the voice actors’ selection.

The Devs collaborated with SBI in early 2022. it is likely that the decision would have been a different one in 2024.

According to Penta, the company will still take inclusivity and equality seriously. However, it won’t work with Sweet Baby Inc. due to the controversies around various members of the group.

For instance, shortly after Akira Toriyama’s death, one Sweet Baby Inc. member posted a disrespectful tweet. This is just one instance of the many controversies the group has been involved in.

Daedalic Entertainment’s Community Strategist has also been upset at the negative reviews for Cape. He argues that fans are trying to harm a small indie studio for working with Sweet Baby Inc.

Users have refuted this statement and explained that they are just voicing their concerns as customers. They clarified that no harm was intended to the developers or the game itself.

According to the users, there is no modern audience that is looking for a well-rounded, diverse cast, as it is boring and not natural at all.

All in all, Sweet Baby Inc. is quickly losing popularity within the industry. Not too long ago, the studio behind Black Myth: Wukong also refused to work with the company. It seems various other developers are following suit.
