Sigewinne Might Be The Worst Genshin Character

Furina brought back healers, but this Melusine was left behind

Story Highlights
  • Sigewinne is a healer, which is a DPS loss in any non-Furina team.
  • Her kit’s geared towards being a Furina support, but her being Hydro makes putting her in a Furina team difficult.
  • She can be used in some teams, but there are almost always better alternatives.

Hoyoverse has been on a roll lately, releasing one fun character after another. Even since Fontaine started, we haven’t seen a completely useless character. Neuvilette is currently the most popular hypercarry, and Furina is the best support in-game.

Arlecchino and Clorinde were both hyped before their trailers, and their kits have largely satisfied the fans. Even less popular characters like Lynney are neither bad nor boring.

The entirety of Fontaine would’ve been an era without any bad characters, if not for our adorable Melusine friend, Sigewinne.

What Does Sigewinne Do?

Sigewinne has a relatively straightforward kit when compared with other Fontaine characters. She has some cool aspects to her kit such as her unique charged attack, but those are useless and as such irrelevant when talking about her meta-relevance.

Sigewinne’s Elemental Skill summons a bubble that bounces between enemies, healing allies and dealing damage to enemies hit. Charging the skill levels up the bubble up to 2 times, increasing damage and healing.

Her Elemental Burst is basically a weaker Neuvilette Charged attack that you’ll rarely use.

Sigewinne’s Ascension Passives are more interesting. One is a simple buff to her healing, but the other one buffs the party’s Elemental Skill damage. This also gives Sigewinne an Elemental Damage buff, but that’s irrelevant as well.

Healer Impact

Healers in general are not very useful in Genshin Impact. This isn’t the fault of healers themselves, but a lack of lategame content needing healers. The Spiral Abyss, Genshin’s most difficult challenge, is simply a time-based challenge.

Hoyo has released the Withering mechanic to force people to use healers, but it isn’t a staple of the Abyss. Most of the time, a healer takes the place of a sub-DPS or a buffer, drastically reducing the team’s DPS. Anything a healer (or a shielder) can do, you can make up for by improving your dodge times.

Made For Furina, Sucks With Furina

Sigewinne’s kit seems geared towards being a Furina/Neuvilette support, with her Ascension Passive buffing the team’s elemental skill damage and her early constellations reducing Hydro elemental resistance on hit.

However, a simple overlooked fact makes her almost unusable with Furina; her being Hydro. Furina provides a Bennet-like buff to everyone in your team if you have a good healer. However, Sigewinne being Hydro means that her team-building options are severely limited.

Furina teams are usually double hydro. The most popular team core is Furina Neuvilette, but other variations such as Furina Yelan and even Furina Xinqiu for Hyperbloom exist. The problem with these teams is that none of the other characters can be replaced by Sigewinne.

Replacing Yelan from most Yelan Furina teams would plummet the DPS to around 75%, and cutting of Neuvilette by less than 50%. Meanwhile, replacing Xiniqu with Sigewinne means there isn’t enough Hydro application to trigger blooms, pretty much ruining the team.

Team Building

Sigewinne can slot into some other teams, but she’s still not good. Here are some ideas where she can work, just not that well.

  • Triple Hydro Furina: Three Hydros and then an Anemo such as Kazuha can be a solid team. The problem here is that no other Hydro units except Furina deal skill-based damage, so Sigewinne would only be buffing Furina. Furthermore, Kokomi is better because she heals from off-field and also deals a significantly larger amount of damage.
  • Hyperbloom: Sigewinne can act as a healer and secondary Hydro applicator in Hyperbloom teams such as ones with a Xinqiu Nahida Raiden core. Here as well, her buff only really applies to Nahida since you won’t be building Raiden for damage. The team would still function, but it’d also function about the same with a level 1 Barbara.

What’s Sigewinne Good At?

The Abyss isn’t everything, and a character not fitting the meta doesn’t mean you can’t use them. Here are some things Sigewinne can provide!

  • Overworld comfort: Her heal not being locked behind her Burst makes her a very comfy healer when doing comms or exploration.
  • Diving aid: Her passive healing when diving can make underwater exploration a lot easier.
