DLC Launching in Less Than 24 Hours!

Story Highlights
  • Remedy is launching an Alan Wake 2 physical edition in the Fall of this year.
  • The physical edition costs $80, and a new DLC has also been announced.
  • The DLC will be a $20 top-up for existing game buyers and included in the deluxe edition.

Alan Wake 2 was among the best games released last year. Though it couldn’t make a big splash commercially due to Epic Games exclusivity and a digital-only release, it was praised by critics.

Nearly one full year later, the latter is finally being addressed. A new physical release for this horror title has been announced.

Why it matters: Many blamed Alan Wake 2’s low sales on the digital-only release. So, Remedy has finally addressed the issue and announced a physical deluxe edition.

Sam Lake made an appearance at the Summer Game Fest with some flashy moves as the Herald of Darkness from Alan Wake 2 played in the background.

He revealed that the team has been listening to the fans and has finally decided to release a physical version in the Fall of 2024. As for the pricing, the physical edition costs a hefty $80 but comes with the DLC offerings.

For fans who have been waiting for an expansion for Alan Wake 2, the Night Springs DLC has also been announced. It will feature three different episodes and various recognizable names as playable characters.

These characters include Tim Breaker, the waitress at Oh Deer Diner, Rose Marigold, and finally, Controls’s protagonist, Jesse Faden.

Remedy Entertainment Games
Alan Wake 2 DLC will feature characters from the Remedy Connected Universe.

It is certainly wonderful to see Jesse coming to Alan Wake 2. We got a subtle hint in Alan Wake 2 about the link with Dr. Darling’s appearance. Therefore, she’ll finally be available as a playable character soon.

Sam Lake deemed the DLC to be a ‘what if’ moment for these characters. Even better is that the DLC is launching in less than 24 hours. To play the DLC, you can either buy the digital deluxe edition or buy it separately for $20 if you already own the standard edition.

Moreover, a free update will also add Photo Mode to Alan Wake 2. All in all, there is plenty of reason to be excited about this critically acclaimed horror game again. Overall, this is a win-win situation for Remedy.

The physical release should help with sales figures, while the DLC keeps players engaged with new content.
