First Project For New Studio By Batman Creators!

Story Highlight
  • Rocksteady Studios co-founders Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker created their own studio a few years ago.
  • A report states that both developers are working on an Unreal Engine 5-based action-adventure title for Xbox.
  • The game seems to be going for a single-player experience, unlike Suicide Squad.

The Batman Arkham series holds the crown among superhero games. After an incredible trilogy to wrap up this franchise, various members of Rocksteady Studios move on to pursue other ambitions.

Some are currently working on a G.I. Joe game, while another team led by Rocksteady Studios creators Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker is reportedly leading an Xbox-exclusive project.

Why it matters: The Batman Arkham series has always been closely associated with PlayStation. Batman Arkham Knight also had PS4-exclusive perks, so it’s interesting to see that the roles may be reversed for Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker’s next game.

The report comes from Exputer’s very reliable leaker eXtas1s. He states that Hundred Star, the team created by Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker, is now working on its first major AAA project.

Xbox is said to have secured exclusivity rights for this project, making it a major score for the gaming giant. While little else is known about this AAA game, the report states that the game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and belongs to the action-adventure genre.

Unlike the controversial live-service approach of Suicide Squad, Hundred Star seems to be sticking with the single-player approach. However, Xbox’s third-party push makes this contract more interesting than the typical exclusivity deal.

Since various first-party releases have arrived on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles recently, this project may end up as a timed console exclusive for Xbox instead of a permanent third-party exclusive.

Hundred Star is currently hiring more developers for this AAA project. However, an official announcement may arrive much later. Fans should also note that the game itself is unlikely to launch this generation, given the arduous development of modern AAA titles.
