Nvidia Reportedly Halted RTX 4070 Ti & 4080 Supply Amid Super Series Rumors

Preparing For Super Launch!

According to Board Channels, Nvidia has ceased the production of two of its high-end graphics cards. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and GeForce RTX 4080 from the RTX 40 series will no longer be accessible to AIB partners at the end of December 2023.

Nvidia’s latest move does not come as a surprise since the company is reportedly working on launching a refreshed version of its current high-end graphics cards. This will include the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super and GeForce RTX 4080 Super.

The report means that production of the Super graphics cards is in full force now. Hopefully, this will translate to a lot of supply during launch since this has been an issue with previous Nvidia releases.

NVIDIA RTX 4090 Graphics Card Green Surrounding

Currently, there is no confirmation on when Nvidia is planning to launch or make an announcement regarding the Super refresh for the RTX 40 series. However, the announcement is expected to arrive next year during its special address at CES on 8 January.

Nvidia will most likely resume the production of Non-Super RTX 40 series cards after some time, which will be essential to differentiate its refreshed lineup from the regular variants. It will also allow users to buy the non-Super variants at a cheaper price.

Furthermore, other RTX 40 series cards at the low end, like the GeForce RTX 4070 and GeForce RTX 4060/4060 Ti, are likely to see a price adjustment after these releases, making them better in terms of value propositions.

We anticipate that the RTX 40 Super cards will provide improved performance and be marginally more efficient for lower prices. The improvements to specifications should lead to performance gains of 5–10% at similar or less overall TDP.

All things considered, this would be a 15–25% increase in efficiency. With smaller transistor sizes, creating new generations frequently is becoming more difficult. Therefore, intermediate chips will be launched more frequently to offer refreshed versions of the same graphics cards at lower costs.
