No Remaster But Port of Original Game!

Recent rumors have claimed that Rockstar Games would release a remaster of Red Dead Redemption soon, with an announcement potentially coming as early as August. Leaks also suggested that the game would arrive on the Nintendo Switch.

Rockstar Games has officially made an announcement. Red Dead Redemption is being ported to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, but this version is not a remaster or a remake.

Why it matters: The announcement implies that the game will be closer to its original PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts. Fans who were expecting a remaster will be disappointed with this announcement.

In addition to the reveal, Rockstar Games has confirmed the game’s release date. It will be headed to both consoles on August 17.

The port will include Undead Nightmare for the complete single-player experience. Unfortunately, the online component of the game will not be a part of the upcoming release.

The game has not been announced for the PC and Xbox Series S|X consoles. While the latter already has access to Red Dead Redemption through backward compatibility, a native version does not exist on PC.

PC gamers may find this disappointing, but Rockstar Games may announce the port for PC at a later date. Furthermore, it has also been revealed that Double Eleven Studios handled the port.

This may lead to concern after the disappointment of the GTA Trilogy, but fans will not have to wait too long to find out.

Red Dead Redemption will soon be available for millions of new gamers worldwide. A price tag of $49.99 on the Nintendo eShop has also been confirmed. Additionally, a physical release will be available on October 13.
