AMD RDNA 4 Graphics Cards Reportedly Skipping High End Market

RDNA 4 To Focus On Mid-Range!

According to the latest rumor from Kepler, the AMD RDNA 4 graphics card lineup will not include a high-end graphics card.

This would make it the first AMD generation in nearly four years to do so.

The leaker compares RDNA 4 with graphics card architectures like Polaris and RDNA 1. Both generations, especially Polaris, were designed for gamers who wanted more performance at half the price.

AMD Polaris introduced a graphics card for $200 and is still one of the most used options on the second-hand market. Similarly, the Radeon RX 5700 XT for $400 was not looking to compete against Nvidia’s high-end Turing graphics cards.

The leaker has a reliable track record of accurate AMD leaks. As such, even with the surprising information, this might turn out to be the case for RDNA 4. In an interview with 4gamer, AMD EVP Rick Bergman also shared the GPU strategy and promised to evolve to the RDNA 4 generation of graphics cards.

The EVP promised more performance than AMD’s current best offering, which would mean something that exceeds the performance of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. However, this may not have been what AMD was referring to.

The red team might be aiming for graphics cards offering a higher level of price to performance. AMD has recently pushed more powerful and expensive hardware at both ends with its Ryzen 7000 CPUs and Radeon RX 7000 GPUs.

However, the company may change its strategy next year. This could lead to great value options like the Polaris and RDNA 1 architectures. The current market has also reacted quite negatively to high-end graphics cards this year due to exorbitant prices.

Nonetheless, this move would force Nvidia to offer better products in the mid-range category. Recent GPUs from team green have been poorly received, including the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB and RTX 4060.
