God of War Ragnarok Continues To Impress!

God of War Ragnarok is among the latest first-party offerings from PlayStation. The newest title in the franchise follows the events of the 2018 title, concluding Kratos’ epic journey in the Norse realm.

Santa Monica Studio has done a phenomenal job with the game, receiving plenty of praise from fans and critics. The game has also won several awards, receiving its latest accolade at the Develop:Star Awards 2023.

God of War Ragnarok has earned the Best Game award at the Develop Conference.

Why it matters: These awards are encouraging for PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio. They also recognize the efforts of hundreds of developers throughout the game’s creation.

God of War Ragnarok outperformed competitors like A Plague Tale: Requiem for the award. It has also performed well in several other categories, winning Best Audio and Best Narrative awards.

Additionally, the game was nominated for categories like Best Visual Art and Best Game Design. While God of War Ragnarok could not secure these awards, it was undoubtedly one of the best games at the Develop:Star Awards 2023.

Following much anticipation, the game sold over 5 million copies in a few days. Therefore, God of War Ragnarok became a commercial success for the developers.

Recent job listings have also hinted that the studio is working on the next God of War game as the developer prepares for the next epic journey with Kratos.

Santa Monica took the franchise in a new direction in 2018. The character’s Norse journey introduced a heavier focus on the narrative, and this change resonated with millions of fans worldwide.

It remains to be seen if the studio will continue with this formula moving forward, but a new God of War title is sure to send waves of excitement throughout the gaming industry.
