Redfall Performing Well On Game Pass, Claims Xbox Head

Redfall Getting Good Play On Game Pass!

Redfall has been surrounded by negativity for many months. Before its launch, many were already critical of the game due to announcements like the lack of a 60FPS mode at launch.

Following a poor launch with terrible reviews, the gaming industry appears to have moved on from Arkane Studios’ new IP. However, a new report from Axios states that Redfall has found success on Xbox Game Pass.

Why it matters: Arkane Studios had a history of exceptional games like Dishonored and Prey. However, Redfall has become the studio’s worst release yet.

Redfall

Head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, recently spoke to Axios about the gaming giant’s current place in the industry. Unsurprisingly, Redfall was brought up in the interview, but Matt Booty remained positive about the game.

The report states:

“Redfall is getting good play on Game Pass.”

This suggests that Game Pass has enabled Redfall to find some success. While many players are unlikely to buy the game at full price, the accessibility of Game Pass means that curious players can try the game if they are already subscribed to Game Pass.

However, the Xbox Head did not elaborate on this statement, so it is difficult to make an accurate conclusion. Last month, Redfall had already dropped below the top 50 most-played games on Xbox.

Therefore, the statement appears to be surprising. It is possible that Microsoft lowered its expectations for the game after the recent criticism, and Matt Booty’s statement takes that into account.

He also pointed to future support for the game and Arkane Studios. Matt Booty said:

“I want to support them to be able to keep working to deliver the game they had in mind.”

Therefore, fans can look forward to more updates and improvements for the game. Redfall has already received its first patch, but 60FPS mode is still missing from the Xbox Series S|X consoles.

Following the game’s launch, a report claimed that many Arkane Studios developers hoped to reboot or cancel the project. It suffered from multiple development hurdles, leading to a poor finished product.
