Evil West Developer Working On A Fast-Paced Third Person Action Game

Based On Unreal Engine 5!

Flying Wild Hog released Evil West last year. Despite its many criticisms, the game received praise for its engaging combat mechanics and arcady gameplay. Following this release, the developer appears to have begun work on a brand-new project.

The studio is hiring for multiple positions, including one for a VFX Artist, and we spotted that it hints at the upcoming title being a new 3rd person action game based on Unreal Engine 5.

The job listing mentions:

“New and ambitious project for next-gen consoles and PC, created in Unreal Engine 5.”

Why It Matters: Flying Wild Hog is a Polish game developer known for producing quality games consistently, like the Shadow Warrior series.

This will be the developer’s first game on Unreal Engine 5 considering their last release, Evil West, was on Unreal Engine 4. The title will also be utilizing Unreal Engine 5’s latest Niagara VFX system.

Hinting at the gameplay mechanics, the job listing further adds:

“creation and integration of top-quality real-time VFX for our fast-paced third-person action title”

Flying Wild Hog is generally known for its fast-paced combat games, and the developer appears to be taking the same approach to the next game. However, the team’s most popular franchise, Shadow Warrior, was based on a first-person perspective.

The developer changed this approach with Evil West, going with a third-person perspective, focusing on melee combat in addition to third-person shooting. Flying Wild Hog appears to be sticking to this formula moving forward.

This could mean that the upcoming project might be a sequel to Evil West or a new IP. Since the game was received well, it would not be surprising to see a sequel.

Considering Evil West launched not too long ago, it will likely take some time before we see the next game. Not much is known about the game, but we hope to see an announcement soon enough.
