Tango Gameworks’ Next Game To Feature Multiplayer Elements

First Multiplayer Game From Tango?

With recent releases like Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gameworks has become one of the most essential developers to Xbox and Microsoft. The studio has recently released two games for Xbox, with both Hi-Fi Rush and Ghostwire: Tokyo now available on Xbox Game Pass.

Following its latest release, the developer has seen a huge change, with founder and veteran games developer Shinji Mikami leaving the team in February. However, likely, Tango Gameworks has already moved on to its next project.

While details on the next game are currently unknown, we have spotted a brand new job listing that could be teasing a fresh direction for the studio’s next release. The developer is currently hiring an Environment Designer, and the job listing hints at multiplayer elements for Tango Gameworks’ next title.

One of the required skills for the job states:

“Experience in multiplayer game development.”

Previously, the developer has worked on games like The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush. However, all of these were primarily single-player experiences with no multiplayer component.

But this appears to be changing with the next release. Tango Gameworks has been known to try different genres, with the latest release, Hi-Fi Rush, also being vastly different from anything the developer had worked on before.

This might happen once again, with the team planning to release a multiplayer game. Live-service games are a major part of the current gaming industry, and it would not be far-fetched to imagine that a potential multiplayer release from Tango could take the shape of a live-service game.

The developer is also owned by Microsoft now, and the gaming giant has plenty of experience with multiplayer games like Halo. Tango Gameworks could use this expertise to ensure the studio’s first multiplayer release is a success.

Multiplayer could mean several things. Tango Gameworks could be looking to implement co-op mechanics in the game, or the developer could be working on a competitive multiplayer game.

The extent of multiplayer’s involvement in the project remains to be seen, but the possibilities are very exciting.

Recently, Aaron Greenberg from Xbox Marketing also claimed that Hi-Fi Rush was a breakout hit for Xbox. Following this release, Tango Gameworks has established itself as a unique and innovative developer for Xbox.

The studio could now be looking to continue this innovation with a multiplayer focus and create another hit for Xbox.
