Story Highlight
  • Silent Hill 2 Remake has an official release date.
  • The game arrives in October for both PS5 and PC.
  • The recent trailer shows some graphical improvements over previous footage.

Silent Hill 2 is arguably one of the most frightening games in the industry. Konami is keen on revisiting this title in 2024, offering the same atmosphere through a remake from Bloober Team.

While there has been much speculation about the release date, the latest State of Play has made a new announcement. Silent Hill 2 Remake officially arrives on October 8.

Why it matters: This game was released in 2001, so it has been considered a classic over the last two decades.

Konami has just shown another look at the game during PlayStation’s State of Play. Following criticism of previous footage, Bloober Team’s work is better represented in this trailer. However, the gameplay still shows many rough edges.

The good news is that a release date is now in place. While the State of Play confirmed that the game would arrive on PS5, Silent Hill 2 Remake has already been announced for the PC platform, as well.

Following this update, Konami is set to go live with its own mini-showcase, where it will likely reveal more on the remake.

Silent Hill 2
The Original Silent Hill 2 Has Some of the Scariest Encounters Ever

This new look could still be considered slightly concerning, but fans seem pleased with the atmosphere change. Silent Hill 2 was always about its horror, so Bloober Team seems to have given this element the most importance.

Anyhow, it may be best for fans to keep expectations in check.

The gunplay and dodging mechanics appear to be the biggest issues for now. It seems the gameplay is a mixture of mechanics from The Callisto Protocol and Resident Evil, but it remains to be seen how audiences will react to the changes at launch.
