  • The leaker also suggests that Capcom is adding co-op elements into the mix.

While there hasn’t been an official announcement for Resident Evil 9 yet, leakers have already shared various details about the title, including its release window.

The first few rumors came from famous leaker Dusk Golem. Adding to his reveals, another reliable leaker shares information on Capcom’s protagonists, stating that Resident Evil 9 will include both Leon and Jill.

Why it matters: Leon Kennedy is by far the most iconic protagonist this franchise has ever seen. Many also consider him to be the best character from Capcom.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Was A Succesful Release For The Franchise

A German leaker who’s been very reliable and has shared many correct leaks in the past has revealed new information about Resident Evil 9 through his stream, which was translated on Twitter.

He states that the game won’t only feature Leon, but Jill will also be a main character. Further elaborating on his point, he says it will be very similar to Sheva and Chris’ roles in  Resident Evil 5.

While recent leaks point to Resident Evil 9 being an open-world title, the leaker states this isn’t necessarily true. He believes the game will have a few open-world elements, as seen in titles like Resident Evil 4 Remake and Village, but it won’t offer a fully open world.

According to the leaker, Capcom initially planned to design this entry as a co-op game. However, the developer is focusing more on a single-player experience after the positive reception of Resident Evil Village.

The leaker believes co-op elements could still be featured in the final game, similar to how Resident Evil 5 and 6 integrated this mechanic, where players could easily switch between the playable characters.

An Official Announcement Regarding Resident Evil 9 Has Yet To Be Made.

Though these leaks come from a reliable source, it’s always best to take them with a grain of salt and wait for an official confirmation. If prior reports are any indication, the official announcement will reveal more than one game.

Capcom is said to be working on a Code Veronica remake alongside the next mainline release. Therefore, there is a lot in store for Resident Evil fans, but there is no telling when more information will be shared.
