According to a report, Nvidia and MediaTek will collaborate on an artificial intelligence PC CPU based on ARM architecture. The collaboration is anticipated to be formally revealed next month, on June 2, when Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visits Taiwan for the Taipei Computer Show.

The verification procedures will be completed in the fourth quarter of the same year, with this CPU expected to retail for about $300 when it first hits the market. The processor is also projected to be taped out or finalized in its design in the third quarter of 2024.

MediaTek’s experience in chipset innovation and Nvidia’s advantages in artificial intelligence and graphics processing technology will be combined through this partnership. By making a more effective AI processing solution, collaborative development is anticipated to spark innovations in the PC sector.

Furthermore, ARM plans to join the AI chip industry and expects to have a prototype ready by the spring of 2025. As part of its initiative, ARM intends to create a department specifically focused on artificial intelligence chips.

It has also engaged a manufacturer to produce AI chips in large quantities by the fall of 2025.

MediaTek and Nvidia’s partnership holds huge potential for the world of AI computing. With the latter’s AI expertise, a new world of machine learning and data analytics could soon become available to all types of users.
