$6 Subscription Now Offers Classic Rockstar Games!

Grand Theft Auto is a massive franchise with many games available in the mainline series. Games like GTA San Andreas are considered among the best entries to date, and it was recently brought back in 2021 with the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.

Rockstar also launched a subscription service known as GTA Plus in 2022 for GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X. The subscription costs $6 a month, and it offers in-game benefits for the players.

However, this model did not receive a lot of attention. Rockstar Games has now added additional benefits for GTA Plus subscribers, bringing the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition to the subscription.

Why it matters: Subscription services are becoming the norm in the gaming industry, and Rockstar appears to be headed toward its own offerings like Ubisoft Plus, Game Pass, and PS Plus.

Rockstar has added the definitive editions of GTA Vice City, GTA 3, and GTA San Andreas to the service, but the studio says more classic titles from the catalog will be added in the coming months.

As such, iconic games like Red Dead Redemption and Bully can join the service. The former recently received a port for PS4, making it available for native gameplay on modern PlayStation consoles.

However, starting this shift with the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition may not have been the best move from the studio. The trilogy has been notorious for its issues since its launch, disappointing millions of fans.

Despite their appeal, the ports for these iconic games were outsourced to a different studio, leading to a buggy release that is often considered worse than the original versions of these titles.

Nonetheless, at the low price of $6/month, some fans may find these games worth revisiting for nostalgia.

Rockstar’s latest announcement has also been met with demands for GTA 6.

Following the 10th anniversary of GTA 5, fans have been more curious than ever to learn about the next iteration of the franchise. However, the studio is not yet prepared to share information just yet.
