Taking The Graphics Crown In 2023?

The highly awaited PlayStation Showcase was streamed last night, featuring many new reveals. It also showed the first Alan Wake 2 gameplay trailer, and the footage featured some of the best visuals at the showcase.

Following the reveal, Remedy Entertainment appears to be very confident about the game, claiming that Alan Wake 2 will be the best-looking game in 2023. The statement was made by the Communication Director of Remedy Entertainment.

Why it matters: The current-gen consoles have been out for over two years, but the industry has not seen a massive jump in graphical fidelity so far.

They also emphasized that the gameplay footage showcased in the trailer was captured and running on a PlayStation 5 console. The developers had previously stated that they intended to push the game’s graphics to their limits in 2021.

However, this is not the first time Remedy has been confident about the visuals. In the past, the developers claimed Alan Wake 2 to be ‘the best-looking, most beautiful Remedy game ever.’

Additionally, Shpeshal Nick, the popular leaker from XboxEra, also expressed that the game will serve as a true next-gen showcase.

Considering titles released this year like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Atomic Heart, and upcoming Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake faces a formidable challenge to be crowned as the most visually appealing game.

However, judging by the gameplay, it does look promising.

Given the game’s prolonged development and the first installment in the series following a 13-year break, it would make sense for the studio to be confident in its release. Alan Wake is set to release for current-gen consoles and PC on October 17, 2023, utilizing this power to deliver one of the most impressive-looking games this year.
