Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has enjoyed financial success. The title went on to make over $800 million in three days while becoming the biggest Call of Duty launch on PlayStation and Steam. Additionally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 includes the much-awaited sequel to 2020’s Call of Duty: Warzone.

Warzone 2.0 was released not too long ago, and the battle-royale mode has seen many new players. Despite a considerable audience, Warzone 2.0 is currently full of negative reviews on Steam.

Over 60% of the Warzone 2.0 reviews on Steam are currently negative. According to SteamDB, only 2386 reviews are positive out of 6705 reviews on Steam. This is a highly worrying figure for the sequel to one of the most popular battle-royale titles.

Warzone 2.0 had a lot of promise for the future of Call of Duty’s battle royale mode. The title features the return of fan-favorite features like loadouts while innovating several ways to expand on the original experience.

However, it looks like players are not happy with the game’s current state. Many users have criticized the UI elements of the game. This criticism has carried over from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which also saw criticism for the in-game UI.

Other users seem upset with the game’s optimization and crashing problems. Additionally, players are unhappy with the phone number requirements for Warzone 2.0. Moreover, many reviews criticized the new mechanics introduced in the Warzone sequel.

Modern Warfare 2

Despite the negative reviews, Warzone 2.0 has not been a failure for Activision and Infinity Ward. The game mode has rejuvenated the player base for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and there is much room for improvement.

The original Warzone was supported for nearly three years with new maps and balance changes, so it would make sense to expect similar changes for Warzone 2.0. Over time, Warzone 2.0 could be exceptional, but the developers have failed to capture the magic of the original release with the latest launch.
