Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake is confirmed to be in development, but Ubisoft has yet to confirm its release window. As it is one of the best games in the series, fans are patiently waiting for the official confirmation. 

Recently, updates were added to the Steam page of the original title, indicating that a release is nearly here. However, adding updates to the original title’s page makes no sense unless the company aims to delist it and replace it with the remake instead. 

Why it matters: Delisting or taking a game offline should be a violation, as people have paid for that title. A massive petition is underway to prevent companies from doing it, but the major publishers remain opposed.

Ubisoft recently updated its EULA, which states that the company reserves the right to shut down any of its games at any time for any reason. In such cases, users would be required to delete all copies of the product. The EULA further states that it is the consumer’s responsibility to be aware of any changes made to the EULA, as the company won’t notify them. 

This is done mainly to avoid legal trouble, as Ubisoft was recently sued for shutting down the servers of The Crew. The company filed a motion to dismiss on the grounds that players were never promised full ownership of the game, as they had only been granted a limited license for a specified period.

Due to this, the company has revised its EULA, and it is evident that Ubisoft intends to follow the same practice again. As the changes were made to the original game’s Steam page, it is highly likely that the title will be delisted, and the remake will be available instead. 

This is, of course, not fair at all, as if a fan doesn’t like the remake, they won’t be able to go back to play the original title. Given the recent condition of Ubisoft, it is unlikely to satisfy the fandom as it aims to change the gameplay
