Trading 30FPS Over Ray Tracing Worth It?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt free Next-Gen update is only a couple of days away. However, CD Projekt Red has already handed out the review copies to give reviewers a hands-on experience with the update.

Despite being a free update, it has much new content to treat the Witcher fans. The upgrade will include Ray tracing and ambient occlusion to experience ultra-realistic shadows and reflections powered by Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR 2.0.

It will also add the 60FPS performance mode to the game for the console players to have a smooth experience. You can see the comparison between ray tracing and the performance mode of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen upgrade in the screen captures attached below;

The ray tracing and global illumination add an extra immersion to an already great game; the improved textures are visible and show how much effort the developers have put into this upgrade. Besides the visual improvements, CD Projekt Red has added a new side quest inspired by The Witcher TV show on Netflix. Additionally, quality of life and gameplay improvements will be visible on newer platforms.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is considered the most successful game of the franchise; it offers an amazing storyline and gameplay to the players. And deservingly, it has won numerous awards. It is impressive to see that CDPR has decided to give back something to The Witcher community with this free upgrade.
