- The Take-Two CEO says the PC will eventually become the more important for AAA games.
- The company saw elevated revenue thanks to NBA2K25 sales on the platform.
- With most major releases coming out on PC, it offers the best of all worlds.
Choosing between a PC and a console is always a tricky question. Some prefer PCs for their flexibility and power, while others prefer consoles for a more optimized and on-budget experience. However, Take-Two says PCs will become more important for AAA titles in the future.
Why it matters: GTA 6 is set to be timed-exclusive on consoles at launch. However, the CEO of GTA’s parent company says PC will eventually become the default platform.
Strauss Zelnick talking to Gamesindustry.biz, spoke out about the importance of PC. He said that the platform is significantly increasing in popularity. They especially see the benefits of it after the success of NBA2K25.
I do believe that PC will become a more and more important platform for AAA titles
– Strauss Zelnick
He believes that it will get more and more important with time for AAA titles. This is quite clear from a recent Capcom financial report as well. It revealed that the company sells more units on PC compared to all the consoles combined.
So, while GTA 6 is skipping a day 1 PC release, Take-Two and Rockstar have a lot more plans for it. GTA 5 is still one of the most popular games on Steam, and the sequel could replace it and hold its place for another 10 years.
PC also seems like the right place to be as more companies go multiplatform. Xbox has already been releasing its games on PC, and PlayStation is now following the trend.
