Stellar Blade Developer Is Working With Sony To Solve The Region-Locked Issue On PC

Developer Taking The Initiative Instead of The Publisher!

Story Highlight
  • Stellar Blade on PC is just less than a month away, but it is not available in over 130 countries.
  • This attracted a lot of criticism, but Sony seems not to care at all.
  • The game’s developer, Shift Up, is now working closely with Sony to solve this problem.

Many fans have been waiting for Stellar Blade to be released on the PC after witnessing how good it is. The game was exclusively released for the PlayStation 5 last year, so some fans have been patiently waiting for it to be released on their preferred platform.

However, less than a month before the game’s launch, it was revealed that Stellar Blade on PC wouldn’t be available in the majority of the world because of the region lock issue. Now, Shift Up is looking into this issue and trying to resolve it.

Why it matters: Sony is now immune to criticism and may not be able to make a rational decision by itself, so the game’s developer had to step in. The developer is currently working with Sony to solve this issue for the fandom, which should be a priority for a gaming company.

Shift Up has recently revealed on Twitter via the official Stellar Blade account that it is working closely with the publisher (Sony) to sort things out. However, the DRM won’t be removed so fans would have to live with that.

We are closely discussing the region lock issue with the publisher and are doing our BEST to resolve most of it as soon as possible. PSN connecting entirely optional and NEVER required.

While the developer is looking into the problem it has also revealed that the PSN requirement is entirely optional. So, if this requirement is optional and not required why did Sony even ban it in over 130 countries

While fans appreciate the developer sorting things out, it still doesn’t like the fact that there would be Denuvo in the game. Shift Up said in the tweet that the DRM has been tuned to maintain the same average frame rate but given how bad this technology is the fandom is still not convinced.

Easy win here would be to drop Denuvo. Even if you tuned it, people hate it with a passion. You have a great game, so just drop Denuvo and you will see gamers reward that.
