Fans Concerned About Authenticity of Positive Previews!

Story Highlight
  • A new wave of Star Wars Outlaws previews came out last month.
  • According to various reports, Ubisoft offered a VIP Disneyland tour to influencers after their capture session.
  • This information has led gamers to doubt the authenticity of recent opinions surrounding Star Wars Outlaws.

Star Wars Outlaws, like various other Ubisoft games, has had its fair share of controversies this year. For starters, fans have not been too kind to the game’s monetization system and the character model. Previews were also quite negative initially, but the latest impressions have been encouraging.

While many were glad to see this sudden change, it seems Ubisoft relied on taking content creators to Disneyland in hopes of receiving more positive impressions.

Why it matters: Fans are now concerned that these content creators were swayed by Ubisoft’s marketing campaign, leading to dishonest impressions.

Last month, various influencers, including streamers and YouTubers, confirmed that they were indeed given a VIP tour of Disneyland as part of Star Wars Outlaws’ promotion.

Typically, it is common for major publishers to fly out such influencers when a preview event is live. However, it seems Ubisoft went the extra mile and took them on a massive trip after the first day of gameplay and interview.

Moreover, European content creators have confirmed they were also taken on a boat tour, further highlighting how the latest wave of previews was much more than just a gameplay session that extended to interactions with the developers.

These acts have brought up the question of Ubisoft potentially trying to gain favor from influencers through such acts. As mentioned earlier, Star Wars Outlaws saw surprisingly negative press not too long ago.

While some content creators have come out and said they were not paid, fans have expressed doubts about the authenticity of their latest Star Wars Outlaws coverage.

Previously, the publisher confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws had the biggest marketing budget for any of its games. The VIP tour is said to cost anywhere from $450 to $900 per hour, making it quite an expensive undertaking as a marketing effort.

Nonetheless, the game is just weeks away from release. Despite the controversies, Massive Entertainment seems quite optimistic and passionate about its latest project. The studio hopes to succeed and set a new bar for Star Wars games.
