Going Strong Over A Month After DLC Launch!

Story Highlight
  • Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree was launched in late June and instantly resulted in a huge boost to player counts.
  • The title is still reaching over 150K players daily on Steam.
  • This average is twice as high as Elden Ring’s player counts before the DLC was released.

Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s biggest release to date, and it only got better in June. After Shadow of the Erdtree, millions of new and returning players ventured into this world once again, leading to an incredible boost in player counts.

While fans are already demanding another DLC from the studio, many are still busy with the first one. Elden Ring is still boasting about 150K peak concurrent players on Steam each day, showing remarkable longevity.

Why it matters: This success cements the IP yet again as FromSoftware’s most important to date. It also serves as an example for other studios.

Elden Ring currently has over 116K players, while it peaked at just over 151K Steam users in the last 24 hours.

The numbers were much higher during the weekends, but even on weekdays, the game is easily reaching over 150K players. Although player counts have dropped since June, they are still incredible compared to the figures before the DLC.

Before the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring reached about 60-70K players on average. Therefore, the figures have effectively doubled, even though most players have likely completed Shadow of the Erdtree.

Therefore, it’s clear that Shadow of the Erdtree continues to be a major hit that will keep audiences engaged for many more months.

One of Elden Ring’s major strengths has always been the build variety. This aspect is even better after the DLC, even if bleed and frost remain a bit too strong.

Following Shadow of the Erdtree, players have more reason to experiment with the various new weapons and buffs. This can encourage multiple playthroughs, keeping the gameplay experience fresh and exciting.

Elden Ring’s future remains a mystery for now, but FromSoftware’s success is one that should be studied. These kinds of figures are often hard to maintain for multiplayer titles, let alone single-player releases.

Therefore, there’s no doubt that 2024 has been another big year for the IP after its initial success in 2022.
