50 Million Sales For Entire Franchise!

Story Highlight
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released last year in October.
  • The developers have confirmed that the game has already sold over 10 million copies.
  • The franchise has reached a total of 50 million sales.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a great start last year as the biggest exclusive from Sony, selling over 2.5 million copies in a day. Two weeks later, this release had crossed over 5 million sales.

A few months later, another milestone has been shared by Insomniac Games today, confirming that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has now reached 10 million sales.

Why it matters: This makes Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 one of the fastest-selling superhero games. It could eventually become the best-seller of this genre.

In addition to this milestone, Insomniac Games’ entire franchise has reached a new record. All three games combined, the Marvel’s Spider-Man series has sold about 50 million units, making it one of PlayStation’s biggest and most valuable IPs to date.

Thank you for the support and making this spectacular journey possible.

-Insomniac Games

This is a massive achievement for all the developers who worked hard on the game. A recent leak suggested that the development cost of the game was around $315 million.

While this may be an insane budget, Insomniac Games’ spending appears to have been worth it. At this rate, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will become one of Sony’s most profitable current-gen titles to date.

The game received a new demo for PlayStation Plus subscribers recently. With PlayStation providing access to the game’s intro segment for free, more players might buy it once the game goes on sale.

New Game+ is scheduled to arrive on 7th March, expanding the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 package further. This sales update also means that roughly one in every five of 50 million PS5 owners bought a copy of the superhero title.

Spider-Man 2 Opens With An Explosive Boss Battle

According to recent leaks, at least three DLCs are planned for the game. This content could begin arriving by the end of the year, with a Game of the Year edition bundling all the content together for the complete version later.

Meanwhile, Insomniac Games is said to be working on a PC port already. Expected to arrive by late 2024 or early 2025, this release will invite an even wider audience to the sequel to one of PlayStation’s biggest PS4 games.

Overall, Insomniac Games has found incredible success with this release. With future discounts and promotions expected to arrive in the coming months, we expect even better sales figures for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in the long run.
