First Silent Hill Title To Skip Guns!

Story Highlight
  • Silent Hill f ESRB rating suggests a departure from firearms, unlike previous entries.
  • Older games in the franchise offered a mix of long-range and hand-to-hand combat.
  • You’ll take on enemy creatures using axes, crowbars, knives, and more.

Silent Hill f is the latest entry in Konami’s critically acclaimed franchise. While it is a Silent Hill game in every sense of the word, it is quite different from the previous entries. Especially now, that it omits a major combat element that previous titles had.

The game’s rating suggests that it will completely skip firearms, and will have an enhanced focus on melee weapons, which is very different from the older Silent Hill games.

Why it matters: The focus on melee weapons suggests that Silent Hill f will be more focused on close-range combat, marking a shift from the franchise’s usual combat model.

Silent Hill f ESRB Rating suggests departure from firearms

The game was recently rated by ESRB with a 17+ Mature rating. However, the more notable point is that it doesn’t mention firearms at all. It states that you’ll battle enemy creatures with axes, crowbars, knives, and more.

Players use axes, crowbars, knives, and spears to defend against and kill enemy creatures in melee-style combat.

Silent Hill f Marks New Beginnings For The Franchise

Usually, if guns are involved, it is mentioned in the rating, but this suggests a total omission of firearms. This is also in line with the Japanese setting, where firearms aren’t as widely available to the public.

Nonetheless, this means the combat will be more hand-to-hand focused, so it will be a lot more gruesome and intense. Silent Hill f currently doesn’t have a release window, but its already up for pre-orders, so it can’t be too far.
