RTX 5090 Scalped For Whopping $9000; Fake eBay Listings Target Bots & Scalpers

eBay Sellers List RTX 5090 Box And Frames For $2000 To Trick Scalpers!

Story Highlight
  • The RTX 5090 is being sold at $9000, more than 3x its MSRP.
  • Fake eBay listings are also targeting scalpers and bots.
  • It will be a while before the RTX 5090 will be in stock since Nvidia is catering to business clients over consumers at launch.

The RTX 5000 series is Nvidia’s most disastrous lineup. However, despite its underwhelming performance and high price tag, gamers are eager to buy the GPU.

Previously, pre-orders for the RTX 5090 were being sold at a whopping $6000. The prices further surged to $9000 after Nvidia failed to meet the supply market of consumers. Moreover, many people on eBay are selling fake GPU listings.

Why it matters: The scalped MSRPs are ridiculous for an already expensive flagship GPU series. Additionally, the community isn’t taking kindly to the bots, further shortening the already limited supply.

Despite Being Listed At More Than 3x Its MSRP, The RTX 5090 On eBay Was Sold

Surprisingly, the $9000 listing of the RTX 5090 has already been purchased. Elsewhere, various listings selling framed photos of the GPU were spotted at ridiculous prices to trick scalpers and bots.

The fake listings are priced just slightly above the original $2000 MSRP in order to trick scalpers into buying. These listings provide a disclaimer in the descriptions, but those who miss the descriptions will be out of luck.

Purchasing this will only include a photo of the GPU itself and sent in an envelope.

Please read carefully before purchasing. This listing is for a picture only of the item shown.

Previously, it was reported that the RTX 5090 was scarce in Micro Center stores throughout the U.S. At launch, only four units were available in certain stores, while others didn’t even have a single unit for sale.

With no competition from rival manufacturers, Nvidia completely controls the high-end GPU market. Following the underwhelming reviews of the RTX 5090, AMD can capitalize on this situation when their UDNA GPUs launch in 2026.

It will be a while before the RTX 5090 is seen again in the market since Nvidia seems to be catering to business clients rather than sellers. Till then, expect to see even more absurd listings for the GPU.

Are you willing to pay such unreasonable prices for the RTX 5090, or are you willing to wait till the stock is available? Let us know in the comments below or head towards the official Tech4Gamers forum.
