- Resident Evil Requiem holds a user score of 9.5, which is the best in the franchise.
- It has beaten the original Resident Evil 4, which had a score of 9.1 on Metacritic.
- Capcom has outdone itself with the title, developing a solid GOTY contender.
Resident Evil Requiem is off to a blinder. After becoming the highest-rated original game in the series in over 20 years, and charting on Steam sales, it is also getting a lot of love from the players, and has even set a record for that.
On Metacritic, Resident Evil Requiem now boasts the best user score ever in the franchise’s history. It currently stands with a score of 9.5, which is higher than all previous titles and even the likes of Resident Evil 4 and its remake.
Why it matters: It is amazing to see that even after so many years since the franchise first launched, Resident Evil is still mainstream and more popular than ever, showing how committed Capcom is.

Based on around 1300 reviews, Resident Evil Requiem has a user score of 9.5 on Metacritic, pushing it past Resident Evil 4 (2005), which previously held the record with a user score of 9.1.
Requiem is a great amalgamation of all previous successful Resident Evil Games. It borrows the action from Resident Evil 4, and horror from Biohazard and Village, and combines it with nostalgia to create a perfect title.

Not to mention, it is also one of the rare instances when a game has near-perfect optimization, which is rare in today’s industry. Nonetheless, Capcom has outdone itself with the 9th mainline installment in the series.
