Story Highlight
  • Insider says Resident Evil Requiem will feature three playable characters.
  • Grace and Leon will take the lead, while parts of Alyssa’s gameplay will be present.
  • Alyssa was thought to be dead, but could’ve somehow survived if she were present in the game.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to be the franchise’s biggest release so far, with almost a decade of development. Grace Ashcroft, the new protagonist of the series, is set to make her debut in the game.

As such, rumors surrounding Leon taking the lead were discarded. Insider remains persistent in its claim that Leon is present in the game and will be one of the three playable characters, with the other two being Grace and Alyssa Ashcroft

Why it matters: Multiple playable characters in a video game are always welcome and offer different playstyles, etc. Leon’s return to the game will surely please a lot of fans who have been waiting for him to return in a mainline entry.

On social media, Dusk Golem compared Resident Evil Requiem to Revelations, noting they are on a similar scale. As such, a fan questioned if Resident Evil Requiem would feature four playable protagonists, identical to Revelations. The insider revealed that three characters are present, with Leon and Grace taking the lead, and incorporating bits of Alyssa’s gameplay into the game.

It was already known that Leon would be leading with Grace, but Alyssa’s involvement is new. For those unfamiliar, Alyssa is the mother to Grace, the series’s latest protagonist, and was previously featured in Resident Evil Outbreak games.

Alyssa was stated to be murdered in the reveal trailer for Resident Evil Requiem. As such, this leak suggests that she may have survived, or the short gameplay parts could be flashback sequences.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to bring massive changes to the franchise, including a revamped combat system akin to The Last of Us Part 2. Early previews suggest that the game is back to its survival horror roots and could potentially become the best entry in the series so far.
