Performance Comparable To An RTX 4090!

Story Highlight
  • The PS6 could have double the performance of the PS5 Pro thanks to Zen 6.
  • It could match the performance of a PC with RTX 4090, which is great for 4K gaming.
  • Combined with the PSSR tech, we could see a significant increase in performance.

The PlayStation 6 is years away at this point, but the rumors about its expected performance have already started surfacing on the internet. The PS5 Pro is undoubtedly the strongest console ever, but the PS6 will take things up a notch.

According to a new rumor, the PS6’s performance could be double that of the PS5 Pro. It could be comparable to an RTX 4090, which, despite the launch of the RTX 5000 series, is still one of the fastest consumer-grade GPUs.

Why it matters: When the PS5 first launched, it promised gaming at 4K 120 FPS on the box. However, that isn’t the case in most scenarios, but the PS6 could be the first to do so, if the rumors are to be believed.

In a recent video Moore’s Law is Dead, talked about the performance of the next Sony console. He said that the PS6 will be twice as fast as the PS5 Pro. Combined with the latest PSSR tech, we could see a significant performance jump.

He also compared the performance to an RTX 4090. For context, the PS5 Pro is roughly equivalent to an RTX 4070, which is a great GPU for 1440p gaming. However, the RTX 4090 is quite capable of 4K gaming as well.

Therefore, combined with PSSR, the PS6 might finally be able to run most games at 4K 120 FPS, and might even hit 8K in certain less-demanding titles. For now, take this with a grain of salt, considering there hasn’t been any official information yet.
