- Rumor states that the PS6 handheld will be significantly more powerful than the Switch 2.
- Even in handheld mode, it will be almost 2x the power of Switch 2 in docked mode.
- If the rumored price of $500 is correct, it will be a huge hit among the fans.
As the competition in the handheld space heats up, Sony is also set to launch its iteration of the device with the next console generation. Based on rumors, it is going to be a very powerful device and a substantial upgrade over the Switch 2.
A new rumor suggests that the PS6 handheld will be nearly 3x faster than the Switch 2 in docked mode. The power difference will be even more noticeable in handheld mode, as it could 3.4x the performance of Switch 2.
Why it matters: If the rumors are true and the PS6 handheld does launch at the $500 price with all the performance upgrades it offers, it has the potential to take over the handheld market.
A reliable name in the industry, Moore’s Law is Dead, previously revealed the potential specs of the PS6 handheld. He has now compared them with the Switch 2 and the Xbox Ally X, and PlayStation’s version will come out on top.
Along with the nearly 3x better performance than Switch 2 while both docked, interestingly, the PS6 handheld will still offer almost double the performance of Nintendo’s when docked. This is some serious power upgrade.
It will also have huge power benefits over the Xbox Ally X, which is almost 50% more powerful than the Switch 2. He also says that multiple developers told him that Switch software is not that good for optimization either.
Based on all this, the PS6 handheld is shaping up to be a monster. It’ll also be backwards compatible with PS4 and PS5 games, and if the price stays below $600, PlayStation is going to have a huge hit on its hands.
