On Track To Cross Xbox 360 And PS3 By The End of 2025!

Story Highlight
  • The PS5 has now outsold the original PSP, and is on its way to cross the Game Boy Advance.
  • The console is also expected to overtake Xbox 360 and PS3 sales by the end of 2025.
  • The numbers are truly impressive considering the slow start due to the pandemic.

The PS5 launched in 2020 during the pandemic when there was a chip shortage, resulting in a limited supply of the console. However, despite the slow start, the latest Sony console has managed to rack up a great number of sales.

It is claimed that the PS5 has outsold the PSP and is now on track to catch the Game Boy Advance as well, which is among the best-selling consoles of all time. This is a huge feat considering the slow start of its life cycle.

Why it matters: The PS5 has slowly become the definitive console for almost every household as Xbox is backing out of the console game. It not only has its exclusives, but is also actively getting Xbox games

PS5 sales numbers have left Xbox Series in the dust

PS5 has now crossed 80.3 million units sold, which is just above PSP’s 80 million units. The Game Boy Advance comes in at about 81.5 million, so the PS5 is expected to overtake that in the future, entering the top 10 best-sellers of all time.

The console is also expected to surpass the Xbox 360 in just a few months and might even catch up PS3 by the end of this year. It still has a year or two of its life cycle left; it wouldn’t come as a surprise if it crossed the original PlayStation as well.
