Horizon 3 Is Expected To Further Push The Decima Engine!

Story Highlight
  • Many PlayStation fans have expressed their amazement at the evolution of the Decima Engine in Death Stranding 2.
  • The game’s amazing visuals and upgrades over the first entry have left fans highly excited for Horizon 3.
  • Gamers believe Horizon 3 will be the one to push the Decima Engine further and be the definitive next step after Death Stranding 2.

Death Stranding 2 is an obvious upgrade over the first title, with breathtaking visuals and stunning landscapes tied together with the robust performance of the Decima Engine. However, all this has only served to fuel the excitement for Horizon 3 for PlayStation fans.

Many PlayStation users across social media are hyping up the next Horizon title since Death Stranding 2 came out. The positive reception stems from how much the Decima Engine has improved over the years, so fans are expecting another giant leap in Horizon 3.

Why it matters: Decima Engine is quickly gaining popularity in the gaming scene, thanks to titles like Horizon Forbidden West and Death Stranding 2, which have made it a worthy competitor for Unreal Engine 5.

The Decima Engine has not been used by many games so far, but Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series and the Death Stranding IP have best showcased its capabilities. Death Stranding 2 has especially cemented it as one of the best game engines for AAA titles.

The new Death Stranding 2 has almost no performance issues due to the Decima Engine, which caused some to dub it the better choice compared to Unreal Engine 5.

Horizon 3 is also expected to be released in 2027, which would give Guerrilla Games’ developers ample time to evolve the Decima Engine further. These two years could create a night-and-day difference in Horizon 3, making it look and perform even better than Death Stranding 2.

Horizon Forbidden West
The Horizon franchise is already renowned for featuring some of the best visuals.

For those not in the know, more PlayStation studios plan to utilize the Decima engine in their upcoming projects. Days Gone developer Bend Studio is already utilizing it for its next game.

Do you think Guerrilla Games will manage to make Death Stranding 2 visuals look old in comparison to Horizon 3? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
