Though Xbox Series X Has Slight Performance Advantage Over The Base PS5!

Story Highlight
  • Gears of War Reloaded is out now, but Xbox and PC aren’t the best platforms to experience it at launch.
  • According to Digital Foundry, the well-renowned tech experts, PlayStation currently offers the best way to enjoy the game.
  • The PS5 Pro delivers the best experience thanks to Sony’s advanced PSSR technology.

Gears of War Reloaded was just recently released. While Gears has always been an Xbox franchise, the latest entry also arrived on the PS5, much like how Helldivers 2 made its way to Xbox.

That said, if you want the best experience possible, it surprisingly isn’t on Xbox. According to experts, the PlayStation platform is currently the best place to experience the game’s full potential.

Why it matters: Xbox skipped a mid-gen refresh, most likely because the company is focusing on its next-gen console. This has given Sony the upper hand thanks to the PS5 Pro.

Digital Foundry, widely regarded as the most reliable source for technical breakdowns, confirmed that Gears of War Reloaded runs best on PlayStation hardware, even though it is an Xbox game.

It’s a case where this combination of a slightly higher pixel count in addition to PSSR produces a significantly better overall image on the PS5 Pro, making it easily the best of the bunch when talking about consoles.

There isn’t much difference when it comes to the pixel count, but the key advantage here is Sony’s in-house AI upscaling tech, PSSR, which keeps improving and gives the PS5 Pro an edge over Microsoft’s consoles.

Gears of War Reloaded Receives Way Less Review Score Compared to The Original Game

Digital Foundry further praised the consoles overall, noting that the game looks sharp and attractive across all console versions, even on the Xbox Series S.

The PC version will be pushed even further with future support and updates, but for now, according to the analysis, the best place to play the game is on the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Digital Foundry also noted that the game runs without any performance hiccups, delivering a super stable 60 FPS on consoles. However, it is worth pointing out that the Xbox Series X does offer slightly better performance than the base PlayStation 5.
