New reports suggest one more major change is being planned at Xbox. It seems the longtime boss of Microsoft’s gaming division is now planning his exit from the company.

This report comes from Ghost of Hope, a reliable Call of Duty leaker. He suggests that Phil Spencer is set to retire from Xbox following the release of the next-generation hardware.

Although the leaker did not provide a specific timeframe for Phil Spencer’s retirement, reports suggest the next generation Xbox hardware could arrive as early as 2027 or 2026.

Ghost of Hope further states that Sarah Bond is set to take over as the Xbox CEO following this change. Both executives are currently working together to ensure this transition happens as smoothly as possible.

It should also be noted that Xbox does not appear to have a replacement for Sarah Bond in mind for now. Her transition would require a new Xbox President, but Microsoft should be able to make that decision in the years to come.
