The last Saints Row game, released in 2022, was nothing less than a mess. It had terrible reviews and didn’t even sell that well. The reboot was nothing the fans expected, but now they might get something that could work out well.

The original Saints Row director has revealed that he has been asked to create a pitch for a potential prequel by Embracer. He previously showed his intent to return to the series with the OG team, and this could soon become a reality.

Why it matters: The director recently also criticized the reboot, calling it a bad idea, and that a mainline entry would’ve made much more sense.

The director revealed that he has a vision for a Saints Row prequel with a 70s setting. He is so passionate about it that he said he’d even secure the funding himself, and that he just wants his OG team to work on it.

Stockman left Volition shortly after the release of the original Saints Row and created his own studio, with a primary focus on VR games. He has also confirmed that the prequel won’t be a VR project but a complete console title.
