- Oblivion Remastered has reached a new milestone on Steam.
- The game peaked at over 200K players over the weekend, slowly bringing it closer to Skyrim’s peak on the platform.
- It is also Steam’s current best-selling paid title several days after launch.
The Elder Scrolls Oblivion has returned to the forefront of gaming thanks to a dazzling remaster from Virtuos and Bethesda. With over four years of development and a complete visual makeover, this re-release puts most other remasters to shame.
Fans have also been impressed with Oblivion Remastered, which helped it attain 4 million players shortly after its release. The Steam player counts are impressive in their own right, with the game now achieving 200K concurrent players.
Why it matters: Oblivion Remastered’s peak player count is high enough to rival most mainline Bethesda releases, cementing this release as yet another success for the studio’s rich legacy.

As the RPG headed into its first weekend, it had already peaked close to 200K players. Following the weekend, this figure went as high as 205,499 players. The game has also retained its spot as the best-selling paid Steam title for nearly five days in a row.
At the time of writing, over 100K players are still active in the game, and since more players are likely to join over the weekend, there is a chance the remaster will hit another peak later today.
For context, Oblivion Game of the Year Edition from 2009 peaked at under 10K players, a fraction of the remaster’s milestone on Steam. This suggests that a large chunk of the current player base is new to the remaster.
Moreover, Skyrim peaked at 287K Steam players when it originally launched 13 years ago, making Oblivion Remastered’s success somewhat comparable to one of Bethesda’s biggest and most popular titles.
