- A Koei Tecmo developer says the Nintendo Switch 2 is comparable to the Xbox Series S.
- This is because the console features 12GB of RAM and supports modern features, such as ray tracing.
- Fans should expect the console to prove its hardware capabilities as the generation progresses further.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been out for just a few days and has already set a new record. This console is said to be quite an upgrade over the standard Nintendo Switch, bringing big games like Cyberpunk 2077 to life on portable hardware.
On the subject of the hardware, the console has received quite a lot of praise recently. Although many have compared the Nintendo Switch 2 to the PS4, a developer states that this console is closer in power to the current-generation Xbox Series S.
Why it matters: The Xbox Series S supports practically every modern current-gen title, making this comparison quite encouraging for Nintendo’s new console.

This statement comes from Koei Tecmo, the team behind Wild Hearts. This monster-hunting title is set to receive an upgraded version for the Nintendo Switch 2, and according to producer Takuto Edagawa, the new Nintendo hardware is more capable than people believe.
He stated that, when considering raw compute power, the console is closer to the Xbox Series S than the PS4. Although Takuto Edagawa did not go into too much detail, the Nintendo Switch comes with more memory than the Xbox Series S.
It also shows similar results as the Xbox Series S in Cyberpunk 2077, validating this statement further. Unlike the PS4, Nintendo’s new console comes with support for ray-tracing and machine learning, all of which combined, make for a console more capable than the 12-year-old PS4.
I think it can be thought as closer to the Series S

This comparison is exactly why analysts believe games like The Witcher 4 might be possible as ports on the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future.
