New Prices Will Be Effective From Aug 3rd!

Story Highlight
  • Nintendo has hiked the price of all variants of the original Switch and accessories.
  • While Switch 2 prices are the same, the company has warned it may also increase.
  • This has been done based on the current market conditions and the uncertainty.

The recent US tariffs saw a massive increase in prices for different categories of products nationwide. Since then, the market has been very uncertain, with prices fluctuating continuously, and it has had another big impact.

Nintendo has announced that it is increasing the prices of the original Switch across all of its variants, taking ‘market conditions’ into account. Some Switch 2 accessories will also see a price hike, but the console retains the same price for now.

Why it matters: Inflating the price on Switch almost guarantees that we might see the same for Switch 2 later down the line. Nintendo has already started increasing its prices in the global market.

Nintendo has increased the original Switch price in the US.

Nintendo, through an official statement, announced the price increase for the original Switch. The Switch 2, its physical and digital games, and Nintendo Online remain the same, but the company has said that might change in the future.

This means that a potential price hike for the Nintendo Switch 2 is also coming soon. Now, with stock available from many major retailers, this makes it currently the best time to buy a Switch 2, before Nintendo revises and increases the prices.

Switch 2 prices are also expected to increase later.

The new prices will be effective from August 3 all around the US. Exactly how much increase each console and accessory will face is yet to be seen. Nonetheless, potential Switch 2 buyers have already been warned.
