The New Entry Won't Hold Your Hands At All!

Story Highlight
  • Ninja Gaiden 4 director and producer Yuji Nakao claims that the game will be quite difficult, like in past releases in the series.
  • It won’t hold your hands and will be strongly influenced by Team Ninja’s hard-to-play Ninja Gaiden 2.
  • Enemies will be tough to face and organic to fight against, but the player will never feel disadvantaged in the process.

This year’s Xbox Developer Direct event was arguably one of the best ones we’ve had in a while, with Ninja Gaiden 4 stealing the spotlight for many series veterans and new fans alike. However, there have been concerns regarding how the duo of PlatinumGames and Team Ninja will handle the highly awaited sequel.

Gamers are specifically worried about the sequel’s difficulty, given how tough and satisfying past entries in the franchise have been. Now, the game’s director and producer has confirmed that Ninja Gaiden 4 certainly won’t be a walk in the park.

Why it matters: Ninja Gaiden 4 needs to be difficult enough that the franchise’s veteran and newer fans can both be satisfied but not so hard that the gameplay feels unfair and difficulty forced.

Ninja Gaiden 4’s announcement took the world by storm during the Xbox Developer Direct event.

During an interview with Xbox Wire, Yuji Nakao clarified that Ninja Gaiden 4 will be strongly influenced by one of the series’ hardest entries, Ninja Gaiden 2. The difficulty level will be similar, which we can already experience in the new Ninja Gaiden 2 Black remake.

I believe [the difficulty level of] NINJA GAIDEN 2 had a lot of standout qualities, and I think fans will feel its influence strongly throughout NINJA GAIDEN 4.

Additionally, PlatinumGames and Team Ninja are combining the ‘best aspects of the series’ and elevating them to make a title worthy of the current generation. In other words, we can expect lightning-fast combat, jaw-dropping visuals, and certainly no shortage of chunky gore bits and blood spills during battles.

The developers still need to balance gameplay for old and new fans alike, so it will be interesting to see how they handle difficulty.

Do you think Ninja Gaiden 4 will live up to the expectations of fans and newcomers alike, or will the difficulty be too brutal? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.
