Leaked Ahead of Full Release!

With Mortal Kombat 1 being days away from its release, users have managed to get their hands on early copies of the game, leaking and revealing plenty of information about NetherRealm Studio’s latest fighting game.

Previously, one such user revealed the entire Mortal Kombat 1 roster and commented on the game’s Nintendo Switch port. Following this leak, the first 3 hours of story mode footage have also been revealed.

Why it matters: NetherRealm Studios has been popular for its excellent work on story modes since Mortal Kombat 9. The studio is expected to continue this tradition for the upcoming fighting game.

The leaked gameplay was shared on Reddit and shows the latest iteration of NetherRealm Studios’ story mode.

Mortal Kombat 1 features a rebooted timeline by Fire God Liu Kang. It features familiar faces from the Mortal Kombat franchise, but certain characters have been given different roles by Liu Kang.

The leaked footage goes through a large part of the story mode and points to a narrative with multiversal elements. However, this has also become controversial, with many users criticizing the predictable integration of multiversal elements.

Nonetheless, the full game is coming out in just a few days, and NetherRealm Studios has already shared the first 17 minutes of the Mortal Kombat 1 story mode for those interested in a glimpse of the narrative without major spoilers.

Early access for Mortal Kombat 1 begins on September 14. Therefore, fans of the series will also be able to find the complete story mode on places like YouTube soon.

Standard edition buyers can jump into the fighting game on September 19, leading to excitement for the latest iteration of Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat 1 is expected to follow Street Fighter 6 to become another great addition to the lineup of fighting games in 2023.

The game is expected to capitalize on the legacy and appeal of the IP through a focus on new elements and returning characters from the 3D era, potentially becoming the most successful Mortal Kombat title to date.
