NetherRealm Studios has finally revealed Mortal Kombat 1, bringing back familiar characters and continuing the story from Mortal Kombat 11.
The first trailer confirmed various base roster characters like Liu Kang, Scorpion, and Sub Zero. However, a recent listing on Amazon appears to have leaked the DLC characters from Kombat Pack 1.
Why it matters: Mortal Kombat has always featured various guest characters in the post-launch DLC, and fans have been excited to see the crossovers for the developer’s latest title.
The leak has revealed the following DLC characters: Quan Chi, Ermac, Omni Man, Takeda, Homelander, and Peacemaker.
Previously, a reliable leaker Jez Corden hinted at Homelander and Peacemaker as potential guest characters. The Amazon listing appears to confirm this leak with these guest characters.
Additionally, Amazon also points to 5 kameo characters. These include Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Ferra. Kameo characters are described as partner characters that can be utilized during gameplay.
This appears to be NetherRealm’s take on tag mechanics similar to games like Marvel vs. Capcom or Dragon Ball FighterZ. The developer has previously featured a tag mode in Mortal Kombat 9.
However, taking the leak with a grain of salt would be best. Johnny Cage is already confirmed to be included in the base roster, and it would be strange to see his kameo version be a paid DLC.
As such, the leak may not be completely accurate, so it would be best to wait for official confirmation.
The Mortal Kombat franchise is very popular and has sold up to 80 million copies. This makes it the most popular fighting game franchise and Mortal Kombat 1 is expected to be another popular entry in the long-running series.
Mortal Kombat 1 is launching on 19 September 2023 for the Xbox Series S|X, PS5, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.
