Prepare For More Explosive Indy Adventures!

Story Highlight
  • MachineGames launched Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to plenty of success and acclaim last year.
  • We discovered a job listing from the studio that suggests the team is now hiring for a sequel.
  • This job ad emphasizes experience with the film industry on multiple occasions, suggesting a link with the Indiana Jones IP.

MachineGames launched the first major Indiana Jones game in a long while last year. Based on the studio’s expertise in narrative and first-person gameplay, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle boasted many of the same qualities that the studio was known for.

This meant that the project became a major success right off the bat, and discussions regarding a sequel began making the rounds. Less than a full year after the game’s original release, Tech4Gamers discovered that the studio is hiring a Senior Concept Artist for this potential sequel.

Why it matters: Fans of the Indiana Jones IP have seen next to no adaptations based on the character over the last two decades.

Looking at the job listing, two points in the Qualifications and Preferred Skills sections seem to be of particular interest.

For starters, we noted that the Qualifications section asks for experience with the game and film industry. In a similar manner, the Preferred Skills section points to familiarity with the entertainment industry, including films.

Experience working in the game and/or film industry.

Being familiar with the industry of entertainment (such as films).

Looking at both points in a broader context, Indiana Jones being the focus of MachineGames’ next AAA production seems like a valid conclusion. It is important to note that the studio is hiring a Senior Concept Artist for this project, so it is likely very early on in development.

Given the fact that the team only recently launched the PS5 port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the sequel being in the conception phase would also make a lot of sense.

Moreover, reports indicated that the team had recently cancelled a long-standing project, primarily believed to be related to the Wolfenstein IP. As such, all signs point to the studio moving forward with an Indiana Jones sequel.

There is still a lot that remains a mystery about the Indiana Jones sequel, considering how the first game marked a collaboration between both MachineGames and Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard.

Whether the veteran director will return for the sequel remains a mystery for now, but it seems nearly certain that the studio has begun hiring to expand the series with future entries.
