Still Going Strong!

PlayStation recently revealed the most downloaded games on their platforms for the past month of April.

In the month of April, it was revealed that The Last Of Us Part 2 was the most downloaded PlayStation 4 game in US/Canada and EU despite being almost 3 years old now. The game was followed by Minecraft in US/Canada and FIFA 23 in the EU.

Why It Matters: The Last of Us Part 2 came out in 2020. It saw plenty of positive reception, but many considered it worse than the first game. However, it continues to be among Naughty Dog’s most successful games.

On the other hand, the latest Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Dead Island 2 were at the top of PlayStation 5 games on PSN.

The Last of Us franchise has had a fantastic year so far. The live-action TV show based on the game was very successful, now attracting an average of 32 million viewers per episode.

Previously, the popularity of The Last of Us TV show also contributed to increased sales of The Last of Us 2, making it the best-selling game on Amazon in January, and this success appears to be continuing in April.

Furthermore, the show’s success resulted in the original The Last of Us game for PlayStation 3 being inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.

Naughty Dog is reportedly developing the third entry in the Last of Us franchise following the success of the first two games. Additionally, a live-service multiplayer game set in the Last of Us universe is also in development and is expected to be released soon.
