Offering The Sims A Tough Competition!

Story Highlight
  • inZOI has sold a million copies within a week of its early access.
  • The game is being praised for its level of detail, graphics, and character customization.
  • inZoi does fall short in some regards, such as performance and unpolished gameplay.

While The Sims had the life-simulator genre in a stranglehold, Krafton has now entered the territory with a tough competitor. inZOI has every bit of feature that The Sim’s fan wanted and beyond.

The game has now reached a major milestone, selling 1 million copies within a week of its early access.

Why it matters: It’s great to see a life simulator achieve this level of success, especially as the debut work of a newer developer.

inZOI is being praised for its level of detail and the never-ending customization options it offers to players. The character creation menu is quite extensive, and players will find themselves delving into the options for hours at end.

Beyond character customization, the open world is reminiscent of a modern metropolitan Korean city where players can roam around freely, fall in love, or do other various activities.

inZOI’s karma system is a unique concept. Depending on where players fall on the good or bad spectrum, they can start fights and commit crimes or, on the good side, unlock new interactions and receive various boosts.

With tweakable assets such as vegetation, buildings, and even ads, players can create their dream city within inZOI. The game utilizes generative AI, which helps with extensive customization.

However, the game does fall short in some areas, with performance being the most significant issue. Moreover, players have complained about the unconventional UI and the gameplay, which gets boring and repetitive after some hours.

It’s all understandable, though, since inZOI is currently in its early access stage and doesn’t represent the final product. Still, it’s undeniable how much potential the game holds, and if anything, Krafton won’t disappoint with the post-release content.

InZOI is also currently only available to PC players, and the console launch will happen when the game is outside its early access.
