Intel Core Ultra 3 205: Benchmarks Leaked 48% Faster Than The i3-14100 In Cinebench R23

A New King for Budget Builds?

Story Highlight
  • Intel Core Ultra 3 205 has an 8-core design (4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores) and a low power rating of around 65W.
  • Leaked benchmarks suggest it is much faster than the i3-14100 processor it will replace.
  • At its predicted price, it performs better than its direct AMD competitor, the Ryzen 5 3600.

The Intel Core Ultra 3 CPU first appeared on the Intel’s website and quickly disappeared for many months. The CPU hasn’t appeared yet, but Korean reviewer Bull Slab Jay has leaked some information.

The CPU is appealing to individuals with limited budgets, thanks to its excellent gaming performance, low power consumption, and inexpensive price. Aside from that, it appears that Intel is making a solid decision and, in collaboration with its partners, is planning something genuinely interesting: entire PCs powered by the Intel Core Ultra 3 205 for less than $400.

Intel Core Ultra 3 205 CPU

Let’s examine how the Core Ultra 3 205 performs based on leaked benchmarks to gain insight into its potential. BullsLab Jay revealed the initial performance data for this CPU in Cinebench R23 and Time Spy’s GPU Score through leaker Harukaze. The comparison highlighted the i3-14100 and the Intel Core Ultra 5 225, thus the purpose is to compare the iGPU and its multi-threading potential.

Before proceeding with the benchmarks, it should be mentioned that the Core Ultra 3 205 is an 8-Core CPU configured with 4 x P-Cores and 4 x E-Cores, with the first ranging from 3.9 GHz to 4.8 GHz and the second ranging from 3.3 GHz to 4.2 GHz.

Finally, the iGPU features two Xe Cores, which it shares with its older brothers 225 and 225F.

Therefore, it is Intel’s slowest CPU for PCs within Arrow Lake-S, and its TDP is estimated to be between 65W and 57W, a very low consumption indeed.

With 13,394 points in Cinebench R23 and 1,125 points in 3DMark, we can observe that it matches its brother Core Ultra 5 225 by having the same GPU at the same frequency, but is 22.3% slower in R23, although considerably outperforming the i3-14100 it replaces. As a result, it appears to be faster than Raptor Lake, and it undoubtedly consumes and temperatures more efficiently.

The pricing is still being discussed because it is unclear. BullsLab has leaked that in certain regions, users will be able to find whole PCs with this Core Ultra 3 205 for roughly 499,000 KRW, which is $360, or about €372 if we convert and add the strict 21% VAT.

On paper, this would result in a price of little more than 100 euros for these basic low-end eSport gaming machines; they estimate it may approach 120 euros. For that price, its biggest competitor, AMD, has a Ryzen 5 3600, which is undoubtedly significantly slower, roughly 30% slower.

To give us a better understanding of the results, the equivalent would be the Ryzen 5 7500F, which costs roughly 170 euros depending on the store.

As previously stated, if the final price is this low, and entire PCs are available for 370 euros, it will surely be a best-seller for this new generation of CPUs.
