Bad News For Fans Of Horizon!

Story Highlights
  • A report has claimed that Sony’s Horizon TV show from Netflix has now been shelved.
  • This is owing to accusations on the showrunner of a toxic working environment.
  • Netflix or Sony have yet to comment on the situation.

Horizon has slowly emerged as one of PlayStation’s most popular IPs. To everyone’s delight, Sony announced back in May 2022 that a Horizon series based on the game was in the works. However, according to a new report, the series might now be canned.

Why it matters: Many had been looking forward to the series ever since its announcement, especially after the success of The Last of Us show. Recent TV shows like Fallout created even more hype for the adaptation.

Horizon TV show by Netflix seems to be canned.

Rolling Stone last week reported that Steve Blackman, a Netflix showrunner who has been working on the popular ‘The Umbrella Academy,’ was accused of toxic behavior. Multiple employees later corroborated the behavior, adding fire to the controversy.

While Blackman denied these allegations, it seems the damage has already been done. According to a new report released by Rolling Stone, Netflix has canned the showrunner’s other projects, including the Horizon TV Series.

The Umbrella Academy is due to stream soon, but the other two shows, Horizon and an original series, Orbital by Blackman, have now been scrapped. This will be very disappointing to the fans who have been eagerly anticipating the show.

The Horizon IP has been a huge success for Sony. The IP has captured most of the PlayStation audience and a massive fanbase on PC, suggesting that Sony won’t let the TV show go to waste.

Sony PlayStation
PlayStation is working on multiple live-action adaptations.

The latest reports revealed that the project’s scripting had already begun. But, there have been no casting or any other details as of yet. Now, with this latest report, it is very much possible that Sony will move forward with the show with a different team.

However, at this point, this is just us guessing. We’ll have to wait for an official confirmation from Sony or Netflix. PlayStation also has other live-action projects in the works, including an Amazon God of War TV show and Ghost of Tsushima.
