The Studio Wants To Make It A 'Forever Game' Like Runescape!

  • Arrowhead CEO says there are no current plans for a Helldivers 2 sequel.
  • He wants to make the title a ‘forever game’ just like Runescape.
  • The CEO previously claimed that there are indeed plans for Helldiver 3.

Helldivers 2 is unarguably one of the best modern live service games released in a while. It captures a great atmosphere with engaging missions and fun gameplay. However, players did want some changes with the sequel, which doesn’t seem to be happening.

The Arrowhead Games CEO has confirmed that there are currently no plans for a Helldivers 2 sequel. This comes after he stated that ideas for Helldivers 3 are already being considered. So, things have changed in a couple of weeks.

Why it matters: Helldivers 2 is pretty good, but it has some in-game engine issues and other quality-of-life shortcomings that can’t be improved with a patch, hence a sequel would make much more sense.

Helldivers 2 studios doesn’t have any plans for a sequel

Shams Jorjani in Helldiver’s 2 official Discord answered a fan’s question who asked if Helldivers 2 will be a direct sequel. He stated that the studio currently has no plans for it and all of their focus is on the present game.

We have no plans for hd3 – just hd2 for as long as it can go. think runescape

Jorjani said that his vision for Helldivers 2 is similar to Runescape, a game that has been successfully going on for years with a solid player base. This indicates that if there will be a sequel, it isn’t coming out in the next few years.

Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 Is The Standout Success From The Live Service Push

The studio shares the ideology and sees the title as a ‘Forever Game’. The vision for the game is quite long, and the CEO admitted that they aren’t even close to what they want to achieve, so Helldivers 2 will last for years.

While this is wonderful to see how dedicated the studio is to providing the best experience for the fans, the glaring issues with Helldivers 2 can’t just be cast away. But let’s just wait and see what they have in stock for the players.
